Mobile Phone Mania - But Not Second Hand Please

Mobile Phones. We've all got one, well almost all and now we can't live without them. But when you buy one, don't do what I did and buy second hand and then hope to have excellent follow up service.

Twenty years ago practically none of us had a mobile phone, today heaven help us if we dare to forget our phone before leaving for work in the mornings. I mean, we just cannot live a second without that phone on our person. It would be pointless to write an article about how mobile phones have taken over our communication. It is just too obvious and we all know that, I'm sure.

Of all the different second hand products I have bought over the years, the mobile phone has to be the one which has given me, by far, the most problems.

I bought a Nokia N80 second hand and six weeks later, calls were dropping before I had finished my conversations. I bought a Motorola C975, after only five minutes into a call it went deathly silent, both parties talking but not hearing. I bought a Nokia N95 and two months later it wouldn't function because as I discovered later, it was a stolen phone. Did I get help or my money back? Never. You see, when things go wrong on a second hand sale for a mobile phone, the seller hides behind emails until eventually he just hides - you won't hear a peep from him.

Plus you ain't covered for nothing for that phone, no warranty, no nothing.

Offline or online, please don't do what I did. No, if you want a mobile phone then buy it brand new for a little more money but a lot more piece of mind. You will have a one year warranty and will be covered in case the phone doesn't work.

In other words, if the phone works after sale, brilliant. If it doesn't, the problem will be sorted.

End of story.
